Abstract: The core of the theory of traditional Chinese medicine is syndrome, and it is the key to realize the modernization of the theory of traditional Chinese medicine to study and clarify the essence and pathogenesis of TCM syndrome with modern medical theory. In the past half century, the essence of syndrome has been studied from the aspects of endocrinology, immunity, energy metabolism, blood circulation, cytokines and trace elements in the body, and many achievements and progress have been made. This paper reviews the current situation and prospects of the study of the essence of yin deficiency syndrome.
