Effect evaluation of acupuncture combined with neural stem cells in the treatment of cerebral palsy rats

Abstract:Objective: To investigate the therapeutic effect of acupuncture combined with neural stem cell (NSC) on cerebral palsy rats and to explore its possible mechanism. Methods: 40 SD rats, randomly selected 8 as the normal group; successful cerebral palsy model were randomly divided into the following 4 groups: model group, acupuncture group, NSC group, acupuncture NSC group (combined group), 8 in each group. The treatment was started on the 3rd day after the model was successfully made. The acupuncture treatment sites were Baiwei, Temporal I, Quchi, Neiguan, Zusanli and Yongquan points, once a day for a total of 21 times. NSC was treated by tail vein injection of NSC obtained from hippocampal tissue isolation and culture of neonatal SD rats once every other day for a total of 9 times. After 3 weeks of treatment, behavior and apoptosis were detected to evaluate the efficacy, and the brain tissue was taken for HE staining to evaluate the efficacy again. Results: Through the suspension experiment, the slope experiment and Y maze experiment data statistical analysis and comparison of brain nerve cell apoptosis, the combined group was better than the acupuncture group and NSC group, the differences between the two evaluation methods were statistically significant (p<0.05);HE staining combined group hippocampal tissue normal nerve cell number was significantly higher. Conclusion: Compared with the simple group, the combined group can better improve the learning and memory ability, improve the limb function and maintain the number of brain nerve cells.
