Abstract: Objective: To detect the content of monoamine neurotransmitters in hippocampus, cortex, basal nucleus and brainstem of cerebral palsy rats, observe the effect of acupuncture on them, and explore the mechanism of acupuncture in the treatment of cerebral palsy rats. Methods: The model of cerebral palsy was prepared by the method of ischemia and hypoxia, the brain was decapitated after acupuncture treatment, the required brain areas were separated, and the content of monoamine neurotransmitters was detected by spectrophotometer. Results: Compared with the sham operation group, the contents of dopamine (DA) and 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) in the basal nucleus and norepinephrine (NE) in the brainstem of cerebral palsy rats were significantly decreased (P<0.05), and the contents of dopamine (DA) and 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) in the basal nucleus and norepinephrine (NE) in the brainstem of cerebral palsy rats were significantly increased after acupuncture treatment (P<0.05). Conclusion: It is suggested that increasing the content of monoamine neurotransmitters in the relevant brain regions may be one of the possible mechanisms of acupuncture in the treatment of cerebral palsy in young rats.
