Experimental and applied study of CEA-rV in the treatment of CEA positive tumors

Abstract: Objective: To investigate the preventive and therapeutic effects of CEA recombinant vaccinia virus (CEA-rV) on CEA-positive tumors in experimental animals. Methods: 1) Preventive group: The experimental mice were divided into 4 groups, first subcutaneously inoculated with vaccinia virus (wild-type W-VV in groups 1 and 2, CEA-rV in groups 3 and 4) for 3 times, and then subcutaneously injected with homologous mouse liver cancer cells (Hepa-CEA in groups 1 and 3, Hepa-CEA in groups 2 and 4), respectively. 2) Treatment group: the same 4 groups, first subcutaneous injection of liver cancer cells (1, 3 groups Hepa-CEA-,2, 4 groups Hepa-CEA ),7 days later, respectively, subcutaneous vaccination of vaccinia virus (1, 2 groups W-VV,3, 4 groups CEA-rV). Tumor size was measured once a week thereafter, and animal responses were observed. Results: 1) Preventive group: No tumor formation was observed in the inoculated CEA-rV/Hepa-CEA group, while tumor formation was observed in each of the three control groups and grew rapidly at a similar rate (average tumor volume was 3.5 cm3). 2) Treatment group, inoculated Hepa-CEA /CEA-rV group mice subcutaneous tumor growth is slow, small tumor mass (average 1 cm3), while 3 control group tumor growth is rapid, large tumor mass (average 5 cm3). Neither the prevention group nor the control group showed toxic side effects during the whole experiment. Conclusion: CEA-rV has a good preventive and therapeutic effect on experimental positive tumors, and the preventive effect is better.
